Ethics
The garment manufacturing industry was strongly impacted by the catastrophic collapse of a factory building in Bangladesh in 2013. This incident was crucial in highlighting to us the need not only to stand up for environmental practices, but to ensure social equality across our whole supply chain. Himes was created as a sustainable clothing brand, but we also care about people’s wellbeing. It is our responsibility to change bad practices and promote safe working conditions. We’re diligently committed to this responsibility. For this reason, Himes only works with socially and responsible factories, those who pass specific certifications ensuring: fair working hours; fair compensation based on local laws; a safe workplace; environmentally conscious practices, and who prohibit child labor.
Our goals are to raise awareness, encourage stewardship and promote socially responsible behavior across the globe. We don’t simply promise that every consumer will feel good about the product they purchase, they can rest assured are supporting a healthy, safe work environment for the manufacturers too. With every garment purchased, you are not only helping to eradicate plastic pollution from the oceans and raising awareness of the importance of coral preservation, you are supporting a better and more responsible garment manufacturing industry.
